Description

short, 27 minutes

In a conservative society, where the image of the Arab man is associated with the ‘Abduction from Seraglio’ wall rug on our grandparents’ walls, finding civic tolerance can be a difficult task. The film’s authors choose the participatory pathway and befriend Ammar, a Romanian speaking Syrian refugee who is about to finish his dentistry studies in Bucharest, and thus offering another perspective: the film is based on a visual formula that captures circular fragments from Ammar’s reality, symbolising a lighthouse which lights the chance to a normal life.

This film was made during the 2 year workshop “Make a film with a refugee”, organised by UNHCR ROMANIA, ONE WORLD ROMANIA and UNATC
